How Does It Work?

It's 8 on 8, 5 men and 3 women on the field at all times. It's no contact, 2-hand touch football. And we keep it exciting for everyone on the team through our four divisions (Players, Sorta Players, Casual and Extremely Casual) and our “female as a primary player” rule.

What's the Cost and What's Included?

Early/regular registration will open July 28th and close August 4th/August 15th or earlier if the league sells out. League fees are $1299/$1399 for a team of 12-15 players ($35 for each additional player over 15 - no limit to number of players on your roster) and $120/$130 for individuals (we'll get everyone on a team). ZogSports donates a percentage of our profit to charity.
Fee Includes:

• 7 regular season games and 1 scrimmage
• One head referee/game
• 50% of the teams will qualify for the heart-wrenching single elimination playoff tournament
• One t-shirt per person on the roster
• Field fees
• Equipment
• "Prize Money" from our sponsors donated to the winning team's charity of choice
• League administration
• Organized Happy Hours at local bars after the games

When Does It Start and When Are the Games?

We play on Saturdays and Sundays. Most games will be played on Sundays due to the permitted time we received.
Games will be played between 11am-9pm.
The season starts the weekend of September 6th with scrimmages.  Regular season games begin the weekend of September 13th.  
There will be no games played Thanksgiving weekend, November 29th and 30th.  

Where Are We Playing?

Games will take place at the following fields. Because the amount of field space we have at each field varies we try and give all teams an even amount of games at each location.

• Brooklyn Tech High School (510 Clermont Avenue)
  
• Col. Charles Young (144th and Lenox Avenue)
  
• Eugene McCabe Field (120th and Park Avenue)
• Frederick Douglas Playground (Amsterdam Avenue between 100th & 101st)
• Jacob Schiff Playground (138th and Amsterdam Avenue)
• Roosevelt Island - Octagon, Firefighters and Pony Field (One stop off of Manhattan Island)
• Riverbank State Park (138th and Riverside Drive)
• Randalls Island

 Please note that game times, location and dates mentioned above are a very good guideline, but may change slightly.

What Are the Rules?

This is a fun, recreational touch football league, so we want everyone to play, stay involved and stay safe. The key rules are:

• 8 on 8, 5 men and 3 women on the field at all times
• No contact, 2-hand touch
• A woman must be a Primary Player on a play within 3 consecutive plays
• Scoring - 6 points for touchdown and your decision for 1 or 2-point conversion. (After the game, the team that has the most fun wins)
• NEW: Limit to 3 "earned" first downs per drive

Levels of Play

• Players Division - Think you're a jock? This division will be competitive, but still fun.
• Sorta Players - Pretty good athletes, maybe played together before, but still social.
• Casual Division - Played before? Not a bad athlete? This is the happy middle ground.
• Extremely Casual Division - this is the pure fun division. It's for you if you're looking more for the social than the competition or consider yourself a beginner at the organized game.

 ZogSports will try to accommodate all team and individual player requests for Division, but cannot guarantee all requests. We will not place a team or player more than 1 division (above or below) their original request.
